Catholic Worker House

When Fr. Mottet launched the first Catholic Worker house beside the railroad track in Davenport, it filled up in twenty-four hours because so many people were homeless. One of the first guests was Woodchopper, the town drunk, who lived in a camp by the riverbank and begged for food at a convent. In Washington, D.C. Fr. Mottet started and lived in two Catholic Worker houses.
